Russian actor Aleksey Batalov known for 1980 Oscar-winning movie 'Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears’ has passed away at the age of 88.
Featured in the 1957 Cannes-winning film ‘The Cranes Are Flying’, the Russian actor has passed away in Moscow on Wednesday, Russian media reported.
Born in Russian city of Vladimir in 1928, Batalov was born into a family of actors.
In the year 1950, he graduated from Moscow Art Theater's Acting Studio School and started his art career by joininng the theater's troupe.
Batalov's film career started in 1954 with a role in a Iosif Kheifits' film titled ‘Big Family’. In the 1960s and 1970s, Batalov acted in a number of movies.
Vladimir Menshov's ‘Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears’, starring the late actor, won an Oscar in the best foreign language film category in 1981.
